Dr. Alexis Lopez is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about helping individuals improve their mental health and overall well-being. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and psychiatric nurse practitioner training from the University of Arizona and is committed to providing thoughtful, personalized care to each patient she serves.
Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Dr. Lopez served her community as a young adult as a firefighter/paramedic. During that time, she witnessed the emotional challenges many individuals face, particularly first responders and healthcare professionals working in high-stress environments. These experiences shaped her commitment to supporting mental health, resilience, and recovery.
Her interest in mental health is also deeply personal. Growing up with a disabled mother gave her early insight into the impact that chronic health challenges can have on individuals and families. Those experiences helped cultivate her empathy and appreciation for the importance of compassionate, accessible mental health care.

Dr. Lopez provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adolescents and adults experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related conditions, and mood disorders. She takes a collaborative approach to care, working closely with patients to develop treatment plans that support their goals, lifestyle, and long-term well-being.
As a Tucson native, Dr. Lopez has a strong connection to the Southern Arizona community she serves. Her spouse continues to serve in the wildland fire service, and she remains passionate about supporting the mental health of first responders, healthcare workers, and others who dedicate themselves to caring for their communities.
Outside of her clinical work, she enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring the beauty of the Arizona landscape. She also has a strong interest in emerging and integrative approaches to mental health care and continues to follow the growing body of research supporting complementary and alternative treatments that may enhance traditional psychiatric care.

The initial psychiatric evaluation is an in-depth assessment designed to better understand your mental health concerns and overall functioning. The visit typically includes discussion of current symptoms, past mental health treatment, medical history, medications, family history, and social or environmental factors that may impact well-being. This evaluation allows for accurate diagnosis and the development of a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Follow-up visits focus on monitoring your response to treatment and supporting your continued progress. During these appointments, we review changes in symptoms, medication effectiveness, side effects, and any new concerns. Treatment plans may be adjusted as needed to ensure your care remains safe, effective, and aligned with your goals.

Telehealth appointments are available for established patients through secure video visits. Initial psychiatric evaluations are conducted in person to ensure a thorough assessment and the development of an appropriate treatment plan. Once care has been established, follow-up appointments may be completed through telehealth when appropriate. .
